ICTC’s WIL Digital is an innovative Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program that helps employers grow their businesses.  A wage subsidy of up $7,000 is available for employers that hire post-secondary students and provide them with valuable hands-on experience in IT and digital roles. WIL Digital is funded by the Government of Canada through the Student Work Placement Program (SWPP).

The Government of Canada has introduced a number of flexibility measures to mitigate some of the challenges employers are faced with when hiring students as a result of Covid-19.

We have incorporated these measures into our WIL Digital Program for the upcoming spring-summer term.

Key changes to WIL Digital for the upcoming spring-summer term are as follows:

  1. Flexibility with start and end dates as well as the duration of the placement(s)

  1. Working remotely in a safe environment, from the student’s home or other self-isolated area is now allowed.

  1. Pre-approval process for Employers, that have not yet identified their future students is available. To find our more, please contact our team at @email, please use “Request for Pre-approval” as a subject line. Final approval will be issued when the eligible student has submitted his/her completed application.
  2. Post-secondary education institutions are now eligible to serve as the employer and apply for the wage subsidy.

Please note these measures will be in place until March 31, 2021
