Canada’s digital economy is the cornerstone of its future economic prosperity and global competitiveness. It accounts for 10% of Canada’s GDP and employs 2.48 million Canadians – playing a significant role in economic growth, employment, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and making it a vital asset in tackling Canada’s productivity challenges. By aligning Canada’s digital strategy with its broader economic and geopolitical objectives, these numbers can grow to contributing $250 billion to Canada’s GDP and employing 2.76 million people.

The Roadmap makes nine recommendations for policies to advance fiscal responsibility, competition, private sector leadership, and streamline governance for Canada to both grow and tackle the challenges posed by emerging technology, economic disruption, and global uncertainty.
